Polls Show Strong Support for E15 Fuel

USAgNet - 01/03/2025

Recent nationwide polling conducted by Morning Consult for the Renewable Fuels Association shows that 69 percent of registered voters support increasing the availability of E15 (gasoline with 15 percent ethanol) to help lower fuel prices and support energy independence. Looking only at voters who expressed an opinion, more than four out of five (83 percent) support expanded access to E15.

Voters were also asked if they specifically support legislation that would permanently allow E15 to be sold year-round and nationwide, like the language included in the continuing resolution bill released Tuesday by House leadership. Of those respondents with an opinion, 81 percent support adoption of the legislation.

"These polling results confirm that American voters want expanded access to E15, a lower-cost, cleaner-burning fuel that strengthens domestic energy security," said RFA President and CEO Geoff Cooper. "As Congress continues debate on year-end stop-gap funding measures, it is clear that the American public supports efforts to permanently allow year-round sales of E15 nationwide. Congress must ensure that the zero-cost measure allowing year-round E15 remains in the continuing resolution package."

In addition, the poll found 90 percent of voters believe it is important for America to be energy independent, with 62 percent saying it is "very important." Meanwhile, 69 percent said they support increasing domestic production of renewable fuels like ethanol as a way of achieving President-elect Trump's goal of U.S. energy dominance.

The results come from a Morning Consult survey of 1,775 registered voters between Dec. 4-5, with a two percent margin of error.
