One of Wisconsin's oldest farm equipment makers is celebrating a major milestone this week. McFarlane Mfg. Co. is kicking off its 100-year anniversary celebration this week at the 2017 National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, Kentucky.
The company makes flexible harrows and other tillage equipment. It also has other local business divisions, including a farm implement dealership, structural steel manufacturing facility, hardware store and rental service. A service and repair shop is also part of the enterprise.
"My grandfather, Earl, brought an industry to our family and Sauk City when he started the Wisconsin Tractor Company in 1917," said McFarlane Manufacturing Vice President Stan McFarlane. "He started designing and building his own harrows during the 1930's because he saw a better way. While our equipment manufacturing has rapidly grown over the last three generations, the family tradition continues today."
McFarlanes' moved to a larger office and retail building in 2013 after a major fire destroyed much of the company's original store.
In keeping with the 100 year reputation as an innovator in the industry, the company says it's introducing its all new HDL-1100 Series Harrow Cart in Louisville. The company also has a series of events planned over the next several months.
